Abstract
It is evident that the short film format fulfills a basic function for any audiovisual creator, especially for those who make it their first contact with the image. Starting first with a general contextualization of this audiovisual product, and then focusing on the Spanish-speaking world, this article analyzes the university short film as a creative product, examining a sample of works presented in different editions of the veteran AdN Short Film Festival, which, in addition, since the 18th gala has an international character. Comparing the works presented by Spanish students with those received at the time from students from the first three countries invited to the Festival (Peru, Dominican Republic and Mexico), the aim is to evaluate whether the different cinematographies -which speak the same language- establish cultural engines of identification, and whether the genres, themes and social concerns of the young creators of these countries are related in any way.
